Brother Lemartes the Scribe

Brother Lamertes, while not old, is in the later stages of middle age and he has not been active in his years at the monastery. He is a slightly built fellow, save for a noticeable paunch. He has an arched back and rounded shoulders, the result of almost every daylight hour spent stooped over his writing desk in the scriptorium. His fingers are stained with ink (as is his tongue for those looking closely enough), and his vision, while perfect at close range, is almost non existent beyond 20 feet.

Brother Lamartes was orphaned and raised in the monastery, and as such it is the only life he has known. He lives within his books, seldom leaving the grounds. However, he has sought knowledge far beyond those walls, and has devoted himself to documenting tales from lands far and near. Not content with just the scriptorium, Brother Lamertes cures his own leather for the covers and secures his own bindings. As a result, the monastery library is of renown throughout the ecclesiarchy, and travelling scholars make pilgrimage to see his fine tomes.
